Norway is a beautiful country with fantastic nature, but it is rather unknown. It is a country that can offer endless fishing possibilities. Discover the many different fjords and rivers and their fish species and opportunities. Today, we can offer you a complete package in the southeast of the country, specificly in the Hønefoss area.

Hønefoss is a small little town in the community of Ringerike in the province of Buskerud, an hour from the capital Oslo. Here you will find a varied range of fishing spots and species. Do you want to fish for trout, pike, perch, bream and maraene and arctic char. Flyfishing or spinning, everything is possible.

THE ACCOMODATION

You will stay here in General Hotell, a nice and cosy hotell, with 21 well furnished rooms, with good beds, bathroom, TV, minibar and free Internet connection. Personal service, good food and a warm welcome are included in the price. The hotel also has a fully licensed bar and an authentic Italian pizzaria featuring a wood fired oven. All ingredients are imported on a weelky basis. You will also find a snooker- and a pooltable in the hotel. Next door to the hotel you will find a brand new swimming centre with one large swimming pool, one theraputic pool and a small pool for the children. A hot sauna is also available.

The package includes room, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can stay as long as you want, from 3 days up til 2 weeks – it is your choice!

How, when, where and how often you go fishing is up to yourself. We give you a complete overview of the possibilities, places, boats, material and fish arts. You decide and make your holiday, exactly as you want it. We do, however, recommend that you drive a car since this will increase your freedom!

THE ANGLING POSSIBILITIES

Juveren

A small lake within walking distance from the hotel (1km). Full of pike in all sizes. Fishing recommended from land with spinners and wobblers. Fly fishing is also possible, although waders would be recommended. Since it is a small lake, the waterlevel will to a certain extent influense your success.

Riverfishing in Storelva (main image)

The river Storelva runs almost beside the hotel (300m). Fishin for pike, bass, maraene and some bream is good here. Expecially the pike! Last years record just past the hotel was 16 kg! Fishing from land is possible, although boat fishing offers greater opportunities. We can arrange boats.

Trolling in Steinsfjorden

This lake is located 10 km from the hotel. Steinsfjorden is great for pike, bass, arctic char, bream and some trout. Fishing from land is possible, but a boat is highly recommended! We can arrange boats and a guide (recommended).

Trolling in Tyrifjorden

Tyrifjorden is a great lake where the river Storelva ends. This means that access by boat from the hotel is possible (15 minutes by boat). There are 13 different species of fish in Tyrifjorden but they can be hard to catch sometimes. However, there are trouts in the range of 10-25 kg swimming around this lake! Boats can be arranged. Large trolling boat with full charter (guide included) can also be arranged. Guide is recommended whatever boat you choose.

Riverfishing in Ådalselva

The river Ådalselva is located aprox. a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Fishing from land for trout, and especially with flies, can be very succsesfull here! Last years trout record was 2,5 kg. Average size around 300-400 grams. You might catch one or two pikes and/or bass’ as well. Guide is recommended, but we also provide maps if you want to go by yourself.

Fishing in Nordmarka

Nordmarka is a great forrest situated between the capitol Oslo and Hønefoss. This forrest is full of lakes in various sizes. Some close, while some require some hiking. Fishing with spinners and flies for trout and bass is good here - especially in the months of May and June. A guide is recommended, but we also sell detailed maps of the area.

Riverfishing in Randselva

The river Randselva meets the river Storelva in Hønefoss city centre. The large trout from Tyrifjorden spawns in the norhtern parts of Randselva. This means that fishing for large trout is best here in the autumn, but more normal-sized trout can be caught all year. The river is a 20 minute drive from the hotel. Flyfishing and spinners are your best bet. A guide is recommended, but only necessary for a couple of hours. We can provide a detailed map if you want to go by yourself.

FISHING LICENSES

Some of the locations require a fishing license. The pricerange varies between NOK 30-60 per day or 100-250 per week. We help you in finding the right spots for your license-purchase.

CATCH AND RELEASE

This is not required anywhere, but recommended some places. We do reccomend landing smaller pikes, but please put back the big ones.

EQUIPMENT AND CLOATHING

We would recommend you to bring your own fishing equipment, but we can provide some for you if necessary. There are two good shops in town if you have special needs. Some of the local flies and spinners can be bought in the hotel reception.

Waders are a good thing to bring! If you plan to go hiking in Nordmarka, good shoes and other appropriate cloathing is a smart choice!

For flyfishing after trout a 3-4 or 4-5 rod is a good choice. 8” or 9” is equally good, one-handed though. If it’s the pike your after we would recommend a slightly more robust rod (8-9). For spinnerfishing in Nordmarka you should bring light equipment (6-10 grams) while fishing in the rivers and trolling requires heavier gear.

PRICING

Our full pension packages includes:

Prices will span from NOK 800,- to 1.000,- per night in a single room and NOK 1.200,- to 1.500,- per night in a double room. Guides available from 2 hours to full day. Boats are hired on a day-basis. Discouts for larger groups and long stays.
